DSHS pays $3.1 million after placing Vancouver girl with known rapist
"The former foster parents of a Vancouver girl who was taken from their care by the Washington Department of Social and Health Services and placed with her biological father — a convicted child rapist who then sexually abused her for years — have settled a lawsuit against the agency for $3.1 million.
Records filed in Clark County Superior Court show that the Vancouver couple and DSHS reached the settlement last month.
The foster parents, who have since adopted the girl, say all of the money will go toward her care, with court oversight."

Four more religious sect members arrested in New Mexico
"ALBUQUERQUE — Four members of a New Mexico paramilitary religious sect rocked by child sexual abuse allegations were arrested while trying to flee the state in two vans full of children, authorities said Thursday.
Cibola County Sheriff Tony Mace confirmed to The Associated Press that the four members of the Aggressive Christianity Missions Training Corps were arrested late Wednesday as deputies tried to execute a court order to pick up the children for interviews from the group's isolated compound in western New Mexico.
Arrest warrants had been issued for the four taken into custody. They were arrested late Wednesday on felony warrants for failure to register the births of their 11 children."
