Army veteran sentenced to life in prison for raping Filipino children, producing child porn
" A 57-year-old Army vet was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday for raping Filipino children as young as 7 and using them to produce pornography in a harrowing case of exploitation.
Michael Carey Clemans of Sacramento, Calif., paid a Filipino woman named Lyan Tendang $6,000 for equipment to photograph naked children, according to a statement from the Department of Justice.
U.S. District Judge John Mendez, who called the crimes "unthinkable," said, "He has taken away the childhood of those victims."
Clemans was working as a pilot in Bangkok, Thailand, when he began corresponding with Tendang in 2014."

" RIO DE JANEIRO — Police say they have rescued eight minors who were being forced to work in a sex-trafficking ring at the beaches near the main Olympic hub.
The cops said three of the people were 15 or 16 years old, according to comments published Sunday. The teens had been forced to work as prostitutes at the beaches of the Recreio neighborhood."

Former Columbus seminary student charged after allegedly trying to have sex with babies in Mexico
"SAN DIEGO (WCMH) — An Ohio seminary student suspected of travelling to San Diego to have sex with multiple infants in Mexico was taken into federal custody Friday at Lindberg Field by special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
Joel A. Wright, 23, of Columbus, Ohio, is charged in a criminal complaint with two felony counts, according to the ICE. The allegations include travelling with the intent to engage in a sexual act with a minor; and attempting to engage in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign country within the Southern District of California."
